Hallstatt, Austria's Icon.
Absolutely fabulous town located right on the lake.
The route, although not long, will certainly keep you occupied from dawn till dusk due to the sheer number of attractions.
A warm-up after the fast national road towards Salzburg. Before Werfen, we turn onto the scenic Pass Gschütt Straße [166], which will take us straight to Hallstatt.
The town itself is small and quite crowded, especially in the summer, and most of all at weekends. We'll therefore drive through the town, as the real treat will definitely be the route around Hallstätter See lake, which will give us the opportunity to enjoy charming views from every side of the town and the lake.
The second part of the route will be no less interesting and will certainly bring a lot of fun! In the town of Strobl, we turn onto Postalmstrasse – a 25-kilometre scenic route, where we recommend a longer stop for a meal at a local inn. You will certainly have a wild time on this stretch, but if that's not enough for you – on the way back you can still to 'conquer' the Hochkönigstraße.
After a day like this, our dinner will surely taste even better to you than usual (if that's even possible).
and the winkles will haunt your dreams
Important information:
– we recommend planning this route on a weekday due to heavy traffic around Hallstatt at weekends
Postalmstrasse is a toll section, the cost is 6 Euros/motorcycle
